Ashley and Joe’s love story started like any other modern-day love story – matching on Hinge. Just two years after Ashley moved her entire life from Texas to Washington, DC, this native Marylander swept her off her feet.
Only two short weeks after matching on the dating app, Joe asked Ashley out on their first date. After learning that Ashley’s favorite cocktail was a Negroni, Joe found a bar that arguably serves up the “city’s best negroni” – All Souls Bar in Shaw. After enjoying some cocktails, they went to one of Ashley’s favorite bars in DC, Crimson Whiskey Bar in Chinatown, which serves over 150 types of Whiskey – coincidentally, Joe’s favorite.
Falling head over heels fast, they made the relationship Facebook official on Valentine’s Day 2020 after sharing a heart-shaped pepperoni pizza.
Joe made his first trip to Houston in April 2020 to visit Ashley’s parents – and the rest is history!
On October 8, 2022, Joe proposed under Ashley’s favorite tree in Old Town Alexandria along the waterfront. Alexandria, VA, is very nostalgic for Ashley as it was the first city she lived in after moving away from Texas upon graduation. After the proposal, they had dinner at Mia’s Italian Kitchen on the waterfront (their favorite restaurant). Afterward, they had drinks at Off the Record at The Hay-Adams, walked to the White House, and scootered home – a VERY DC engagement.
The next day, they had brunch with Ashley’s girlfriends at Ambar Capitol Hill in Eastern Market and then spent the day with Joe’s family in his hometown, Annapolis, MD – another favorite city of theirs to visit.
Ashley always knew she wanted to get married on New Year’s Eve in Houston, and Joe was on board fairly quickly after falling in love with Texas on his first visit back in 2020. They only toured one wedding venue, The Springs in Cypress. After seeing the magnolia trees across the property (Ashley’s favorite flower), and most notably, it having the architecture of a French Chateau, it became very clear this was the ultimate sign – Joe and Ashley both studied French in school for years, so they knew it was the perfect place for them to tie the knot.
As the big day approaches, Ashley and Joe are eternally grateful for everyone who has supported them on their journey to becoming husband and wife. As the RSVPs pour in, they are honored by the love and kind words they’ve received and all the sacrifices guests have made to travel near and far on a holiday weekend.
They can’t wait to ring in the new year as newlyweds with all of their loved ones!
